Ben Creevey
Ben is an experienced and respected ICT industry professional with a demonstrated ability to lead and manage diverse teams of people to new levels of performance and success in a highly technical and evolving industry.
As a telecommunications professional with a deep knowledge of the sector and the challenges and opportunities its presents, Ben's strengths are further accentuated by his role as a national director of the Australian Telecommunications Users Group (ATUG), and the exposure to the industry issues that this role brings. Ben Hiley
Ben enjoyed a highly successful career at Telstra, starting as a graduate engineer in 1990 and moving through a number of Traffic Engineering and Systems Engineering roles before moving into Product Development. With this engineering background and a Masters in Technology Management, he commenced as a Communications Consultant for Telstra’s Corporate & Government customers in 1997.
The last 3 years in particular were extremely rewarding in his role as a Principal Consultant for IP Solutions, leading many of Telstra’s major Business & Government customers through the planning, design and implementation of complex IP and convergent communication solutions.
By consistently delivering business outcomes through the application of innovative commercial & technology solutions, he achieved a trusted advisor status within many high profile Queensland Corporations.
Bernardo Gama Silva

Brendan McLearie - Partner
Brendan holds 17 years formal experience in the IT industry in consulting and internal management roles in a variety of organisations. Brendan’s broad experience in large corporations, federal and state government departments and small to medium enterprises has provided him with the background and skills to deliver a broad range of technology solutions that are focussed on business outcomes.
Brendan’s experience has included the successful delivery of business to technology alignment projects such as: IT&T strategic plans; information management strategies; technology infrastructure planning; out-source/smart-source transitions; infrastructure architecture; IT due diligence; business case development; information security management and assessment; and business and service continuity.
Brendan has also started and maintains an interest in several SME businesses across varying industries where he has successfully applied and further developed his technology, marketing, management and business systems skills.
Brendon Taylor - Partner
Brendon is a motivated information technology security and risk professional with over fifteen years of experience in the information security and risk industry. As a director and principal consultant for Business Aspect, Brendon assists customers in; understanding their risk environment, the definition of security strategy, and the development of pragmatic security policy and in defining risk management programs and processes. Brendon has gained a highly respected reputation through applying a cost-benefit approach to the application of security controls and in providing management and strategic level advice on information security, business continuity and risk related functions, processes and technologies.
Brendon has fulfilled internal security management and risk roles as well as client consulting in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom across Government and commercial industry. Recent work includes fulfilling the role of IT Risk Manager for a Queensland Government owned corporation, risk assessments of business critical systems focussed on both security and availability, security strategy and plan development, development of security policy frameworks and supporting guidelines, standards, processes and risk advice to business and IS management. Brendon has recently delivered projects for the development of business continuity strategies and plans, training and awareness and Information Security Governance.
Brett Beattie
In his position as a Software Architect, Brett has been involved in all aspects of the project life cycle from inception and business case development to design, development and implementation. Brett has maintained strong technical skills while demonstrating his ability to design complete and innovative solutions to complex business problems. Brett has demonstrated his ability to lead a team of developers to deliver high quality applications that meet all expectations and promote a spirit of partnership with the client.
Brett has developed core design and development skills covering all Windows platforms, including desktop, internet/intranet and server applications. Brett has been involved in the integration of Windows based applications with applications on other platforms, including Unix, Netware and Unisys mainframes.
Brett's core strength lies in problem solving and creating simple solutions to complex technical and business problems. Brett has 15 years of experience in developing Windows and Microsoft technology based solutions for business. This in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Microsoft operating systems, server applications and development tools provides a solid foundation for building working solutions to any problem.
Brett has developed strong relationships with both clients and colleagues, and has proven communication skills with an excellent ability to listen and understand issues.
Brett has been a member of the Queensland MSDN and SQL Server user groups for many years, and regularly attends meetings. Brett has also attended a variety of Microsoft hosted conferences and seminars over the years.
Chris Cox
Chris is a Senior Consultant with responsibility for working directly with senior clients to understand and document requirements and provide a communication bridge to technical resources. Chris has worked with a multitude of commercial and public sector clients which has afforded him with extensive practical experience across all stages of software development from defining requirements through to deployment and ongoing support.
Chris has maintained a hands-on approach ensuring he can relate both to business stakeholders as well as software developers. Chris has up to date strong skills in numerous languages and development paradigms including object-oriented development in Microsoft.NET, Java and C++; procedural development in C, and web development through ASP, ASP.NET and JavaScript. David Lennon - Partner
David is a Partner within the Business Aspect organisation. David’s expertise is in advising clients from a business perspective on matters relating to a broad range of areas including telecommunications, networking and mobility. David’s specialisations include the development of telecommunications strategies, regional area communications, business case development, business continuity planning, and mobility strategies.
In recent months, prior to joining Business Aspect, David has played a leadership role in a consulting business in Queensland for a multi national System Integrator and has played a major role in creating the significant growth in – both within the professional services area and across the broader business.
David has 16 years of experience in the I.T. and Telecommunications industry. His has gained considerable knowledge across a broad range of communications, networking and risk management areas. This combined with extensive business qualifications and experience enables the delivery of strong commercial outcomes for the clients of Business Aspect.
Duncan Unwin
Duncan has over twenty years experience in ICT. His roles have included being CTO in an eBusiness start up, IT Manager for a top-50 Queensland company, Development Manager, Director of Product Management in a leading Australian software development company, Enterprise Architect and Payments and Security consultant. His areas of industry expertise include ePayments, supply-chain optimisation, Information Security and C4ISR systems.
He has over a decade in IT Security and ePayments. He has a broad range of domain experience including:
- Policy and procedure development and implementation in both the public and private sectors, using ASCI 33 (ISM), PSM, ISO17799/ISO27002, ISO27001, and PCI-DSS
- Managing security standards compliance processes for federal government agencies, Defence, and private sector organizations, covering IT systems, physical and personnel security
- Application and network architecture for secure online systems in mission-critical environments Technical security compliance e.g. to Common Criteria and FIPS standards
- Participated in the development of VISA’s online payment authentication protocol, Verified by Visa
Duncan has strong linkages with the Griffith University Business School, where he is involved in providing industry advice into programme development, has conducted research into organisational adoption of new technology (funded by INTEL) and in new approaches to ICT planning, and received a Masters in Information Systems with Honours. Duncan also continues service in the Australian Defence Force as an officer in combat signals and C4ISR systems.
Gil Carter
Gil has significant experience in specifying, architecting and implementing complex e-health foundation services aligned to national strategies, including identifiers, messaging and authentication. He comes from a strong background in identity management systems for e-health, including design of new national services around digital certificates and smartcards.
Gil is an experienced program manager, effective at the strategic, business and technical levels across the diverse stakeholders and challenging environment in which e-health operates.
Previous roles with the National eHealth Transition Authority (NEHTA) included undertaking the development of successful multi-million business case proposing the development of a new smartcard service to be used by doctors when accessing sensitive electronic health information. The NASH program is noted as a key piece of national e-health infrastructure in the National E-Health Strategy (2008) and is leveraged by a number of other e-health programs, including NEHTA's Unique Healthcare Identifiers service.
Gil has been a frequent public presenter on NEHTA and NASH program - e.g., CeBIT (May 2008) and Australian Smartcards Summit (July 2008), Identity Management Summit (Feb 2009).
Jacob Formann - Partner
Jacob is a highly motivated information technology professional with over seventeen years of experience in the computing industry. As a director and principal consultant for Business Aspect, Jacob helps customers to understand and translate their business and technology objectives to prepare strategic plans and develop pragmatic implementation plans through to advice on ongoing technology management. Jacob has built a solid and highly respected reputation through applying hands on technical skills in developing plans and providing strategic advice to customers..
Jacob has worked across the public and private sector throughout the Australian market place and played an integral role in establishing IT management consulting business units in Brisbane and Melbourne for a multi national integrator. Over the past 2 years, Jacob has been working with a group of highly respected IT consultants to develop and grow Business Aspect in the Brisbane and Canberra market.
During his career, Jacob has developed a broad range of skills and experience throughout many industry verticals including Manufacturing, Finance, Government and Utilities. As a trusted advisor to numerous CIO’s and business executives, Jacob has undertaken various roles including development of IT strategies, management consulting, architectural design of infrastructure and software development, project management as well as involvement in many business operations improvement programs. Prior to becoming an IT consultant, Jacob was the National IT manager for over five years for an international engineering and environment management company.
John Franchina
John has extensive experience in the planning and successful delivery of multiple concurrent ICT programs within allocated budget and resources. His experience includes strategic senior roles including Chief Operations Officer, General Manager Projects, Project Director, and Senior Project Manager and responsible for reporting program financial and status to Senior Executives, Program Steering Committees, and company Boards
John also has experience in delivering and operating at state, national, and international levels for both public and private organisations.
Mark Allie
Mark has 13 years Project Management experience, 10 years support team leader/management experience and 5 years systems support experience. His background has principally been in systems integration, technical architecture, systems upgrade, systems support and enterprise class systems.
Mark's expertise includes Project Management, Business Analysis, Systems Integration, Solutions Architecture, Capacity Planning, Technical Support, Architectural support and design. He has applied his skills across a range of solution spaces from financial systems and the airline industry to identity management.
Mark has applied a number of project management methodologies and standards including TeamMethod (tm Unisys), e-Thinking (tm AECO Pacific), PMBOK (NRW ITS) and more recently commenced training in the NRW adaptation of the Prince2 based methodology for Queensland Government.
Mark has proven that he can adapt to varying business environments, roles and scale of projects and is always keen to take on new challenges.
Michael Linnett

Paul Green
Paul is a Senior Consultant experienced in information security and identity management. Paul's strengths are in architecting strong authentication and access control solutions; having worked extensively with PKI solutions, including smartcards; OTP solutions (SecurID and OATH); and identity management/access management solutions, particularly with web based and portal applications. Paul has often performed workshops with customers to identify existing security policy requirements, and formulated recommendations on compliance and best practice solutions.
Paul is very aware of the principles of IT security having worked with ISO17799, ISO27002, ITIL and PRINCE2 methodologies. Paul has presented at conferences including ISSE (London and Prague); ECAF (London); and ETSI (Rome), as well as many other smaller regional workgroups.
Philip Sweeney
Phillip has been involved in the IT industry since 1991. He has extensive experience in the design and construction of line-of-business software solutions for government and commercial organisations. These solutions range from large-scale client/server Information Management systems to Web-enabled Content Management facilities for geographically dispersed organisations.
In addition to his technical experience and skills, Phillip has also been responsible for the development of software development, testing and deployment practices and procedures. Phillip has developed excellent communications skills, oral and written, through his work as a consultant, technical lead and architect.
Robyn Bailey
Robyn is a highly experienced Consultant with expertise across a broad range of areas, including; security, business continuity and disaster recovery planning. Robyn’s extensive career across a diverse range of organisations, and her proven track record for effective delivery of desired outcomes places her in the top echelon of security and risk management consultants. Robyn’s experience and background in both technical and business areas adds further significant value to her credentials. Robyn is a qualified CISSP and is the Founding President of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), Queensland Chapter.
Roger Jismalm
Roger has 25 years of experience in information management consulting to ensure organisations’ effective use of processes, information, applications and technology to enhance their customer service.
Roger’s main expertise lies in solution architecture, information architecture, business analysis and project management.
Roger has worked across the public and private sector in Australia, USA and UK. During his career, Roger has developed a broad range of skills and experience throughout many industries Human Services, Finance, Utilities, Government, Mining, Transport, Education and Airlines. Roger has undertaken various roles including IS/IT strategy development, management consulting, business and information architecture design and development, project management as well as business improvement projects.
Prior to joining Business Aspect Roger was an independent consultant and was the manager of a management consulting practice for a large multi-national company.
Sharon Sweeney
Sharon is a management consultant with extensive public sector experience, having worked in Commonwealth and State Governments for over 17 years. She holds a Master’s degree in Population Health and has consulting experience in the health and human services sectors. Sharon has particular expertise and interest in policy development and strategic business planning and has been engaged on many occasions to conduct service reviews and evaluations for government and non-government organisations.
Early in her career, Sharon worked as a Data Manager and had responsibility for developing the first National Minimum Data Set for the BreastScreen Australia program to assist in monitoring and quality assurance within the Program. Her professional interest in the collection and use of data for performance monitoring and quality assurance has continued throughout her career.
Sharon is an excellent communicator who works with businesses to identify their key drivers, priorities and business requirements. She provides a conduit for the business to work with IT professionals to develop solutions that deliver business benefits.
Sharon is a member of the Project Management Institute and the Australian Institute of Management.
Steve Nesbitt
Steve is a Senior Analyst Programmer, with over 11 years experience, specialising in web and middleware technologies. He has broad international experience living and working in Australia, UK and USA across the following industries and domains:
- Education and Training management systems
- Travel and leisure reservation systems
- Human-centric workflow systems
- Group calendaring and resource scheduling
- API and web-service development.
Steve is a Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist (.Net Framework 3.5, ASP.NET Applications) with excellent C# skills. He has in-depth experience with WCF, WF and SQL Server technologies. Steve has also worked with development frameworks including ASP.NET MVC, Entity Framework, Web Client Software Factory, CSLA.NET and NHibernate.
Steve is experienced with Agile Development methodologies. He has excellent writing skills and has produced formal documentation in the form of development processes and standards, design and solution proposals, formal estimates, UML class diagrams, technical specifications and implementation summaries. Steve also has excellent interpersonal skills and establishes a great rapport with colleagues, clients and stakeholders.Steven Haites - Partner
Steven has 26 years experience in the IT industry, providing strategic planning, management, consulting and technical expertise to some of Australia’s most successful organisations. His experience includes working at the most senior levels internally and as a consultant to companies including Queensland Chamber of Commerce, Bank of Queensland, Suncorp-Metway, various Queensland Government departments and utility and infrastructure providers.
Steven’s skills have been particularly effective at driving IT redevelopment projects, managing staff, developing strategic business direction and the IT applications to support business objectives. His past responsibilities have included CIO roles, IT management, sales management, service delivery, strategic planning and implementation, human resource and project management, selective outsourcing and the establishment of an interactive education division.
Warren Shaw
Warren has over 25 years experience in ICT sales, business development, and senior management roles beginning with IBM Australia in 1984 where he specialised in Mainframe sales to Government and Corporations.
During the 1990's, he specialised in business process re-engineering with manufacturing and distribution enterprises while working for a leading global Enterprise Resource Planning solutions company.
From 2000, Warren focused on the global deployment of new generation payment systems developed by an Australian company, with MasterCard International and American Express as well as numerous financial institutions and Enterprises covering business-to-consumer and business-to-business environments.
Warren joined Business Aspect in 2009 and brings with him a wealth of experience in ICT sales and business development to help Business Aspect continue on its evolution of sustainable growth and strong customer satisfaction.
Wayne Burgess
Wayne has over 22 years experience in the Information Technology and Communications industry, specialising predominantly in the area of data communications and networking. He is self motivated and results driven with a dedication to life-long learning and personal development. Wayne has many years of experience in leadership, relationship building, human resource management, and business management to complement his top level technical certifications and technical consulting experience.
Having worked with several major corporations including Telstra, Digital Equipment Corporation, Scitec, ComTech, Dimension Data, and more recently Integ Communications, Wayne bas built a wealth of technical and business orientated experience. Throughout his career Wayne has progressed through the technical ranks of systems engineering, presales, ICT and professional services consulting, to business roles including professional services management, business development, and business management.
He has extensive experience in many facets of communications and networking technologies including a strong focus on security, voice, and core routing and switching architectures. His strong technical exposure is complemented by his extensive project delivery experience and document writing skills.
In early 2002 Wayne became a business proprietor starting a business partnership focussed in delivery of IT professional services and technical consulting. Starting with no customers and no brand recognition Wayne jointly built C4 Systems to over $1.5 million of professional services revenue over a period of three years.
Until C4 was acquired by UXC Ltd in December 2004 his responsibilities were business development and ICT strategic and technical consulting, before taking a role in the newly merged company as General Manager (acting), and more recently Business Development Manager, Advanced Technologies and Services. Under the new ownership structure Wayne led a team of up to sixteen Senior Services Consultants and took C4 to Cisco Gold partner certification.
Wayne is an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual. He prides himself on his customer services delivery and business acumen, and has a unique blend of technical, interpersonal, project delivery, business, and financial analysis skills. He is a clear, logical thinker and uses a rational, analytical approach to his professional and business endeavours.
Wayne Tucker
As a Project Manager Wayne has been involved with establishing: project/program management offices, direction setting and scope management, risk and issue management, regular reporting, learning and completion reviews. He has also worked extensively in service and contract management with external services providers, and service level agreement negotiation and development between internal business and information technology groups.
At the business layer Wayne has had significant experience in strategic planning at an organisational, business unit and team level delivering operational plans and inevitably project plans identifying major activities such as scope, deliverables, resourcing, timelines, budget and risks.
