Case Study: Architecture Engagement

This diversified national construction group has a large number of sites around Australia. The existing ICT infrastructure and network has evolved through a number of business acquisitions. The CIO had developed an ICT strategy that adopted cloud computing, consolidated ICT infrastructure and upgraded the WAN and Desktop. An overarching technical design was required to determine how delivery of the strategy would be achieved.

Business Aspect was engaged to:

  • map the current infrastructure
  • develop end-to-end network performance models for each type of site (small, large, metro, city, remote)
  • align WAN optimisation strategies
  • designed a consolidated cloud data centre architecture, using existing in-house data room for disaster recovery
  • architect an application delivery and integration platform based around Microsoft SharePoint and an Enterprise Service Bus that allowed cloud services to be integrated
  • develop an implementation roadmap and budget
  • map technical components to strategic benefits in the ICT Strategy

The engagement meant that the organisation has been able to go to market for the engagement of a Systems Integrator and project managers have been engaged to begin Stage 1 implementation.
