Carsten Larsen

Carsten is a recognised visionary, pragmatic and charismatic business and technology leader, with 20 years' plus experience in both local and multinational companies across Australia and the United States at CIO/CTO level - working to Senior Executive/CEO and Board level.

He is a change and transformation specialist, focused on innovation and technology enablement with the leadership to execute. He has led the development of strategy, innovation and roadmaps for significant programs including in Government, public utilities, telecommunications, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and transport.

Carsten’s strength is his ability to manage change initiatives effectively with positive business outcomes. He has strong communications skills, excellent guidance and project/program management skills.

Carsten has been responsible for developing and executing both corporate and ICT strategic plans in line with the organisations’ broader objectives. For example, as CIO of the ACMA, ActewAGL/TransACT and the NSW State Rail Authority, such plans initiated fundamental shifts in the role that ICT played from one of mere operational support to realising its full transformational capacity organisation wide.

Carsten has led major strategic projects. At NSW State Rail Authority, he initiated several station and passenger safety and security projects in an environment of rapidly escalating public security concerns. As GM, Commercial Development at ActewAGL, he led the company’s involvement in a number of sustainable energy initiatives, including wind farming and the development of a “green” data centre to address the exponential growth in data storage requirements in the ACT region, particularly from Australian Government agencies.
