Case Study: Application End-to-End Performance Review
Business Aspect was engaged by a government education department to undertake a technical system end to end performance review of a range of enterprise applications. This review included dependent technology solutions such as Identity and Access Management as well as major infrastructure components such as the Wide Area Network (WAN).
The Department had a significant reliance on a suite of applications supporting its core teaching and operations. Numerous components of these application suites have a large and geographically dispersed user base and are accessed via both internal Department managed network links and externally via the Internet.
The Department was seeking to identify any opportunities for improvement to the performance of these systems – recognising that performance requires consideration from both technological and user / usage perspectives. The infrastructure areas that were assessed included the IP Wide Area Network, core infrastructure including Identity and Access Management and the way the applications communicate with end users.
The Business Aspect team delivered a comprehensive end-to-end review of the performance of these key applications. A broad range of findings were presented including; application architecture, support arrangements, and wide area network factors. The project demonstrated Business Aspect’s ability to deliver comprehensive reviews of networks and other infrastructure components, while linking the findings to real business improvements.
The final deliverables were accepted fully by the client, and follow-on work resulted.
